TakeoffCalc

Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 11, 2026

Overview

TakeoffCalc respects your privacy. This policy explains what data the site collects when you visit, how that data is used, and your rights to access, correct, or delete it.

TakeoffCalc is operated by an independent developer. The site does not have a corporate parent and does not share data with affiliated companies, because there are none.

What data is collected

When you visit TakeoffCalc, the following happens automatically:

  • Your browser sends standard request information to the hosting provider (Vercel). This includes your IP address, the page you requested, the time of the request, and your browser’s user agent string. This is the same information any web server receives from any visitor and is used to deliver pages and maintain the service.
  • The site stores a small amount of data in your browser’s local storage to remember your unit preference (imperial or metric) across visits. This data stays on your device. It is not sent to TakeoffCalc or any third party.
  • If you accept or decline cookies via the consent banner, your choice is recorded in your browser’s local storage so the banner doesn’t appear on every page load. Again, this stays on your device.

If you email me at contact@takeoffcalc.com, your email address and the contents of your message are received by my email provider (Namecheap Private Email) and stored in my inbox.

What data is NOT collected

TakeoffCalc does not currently use:

  • Analytics services like Google Analytics or Plausible
  • Third-party advertising networks
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Marketing cookies or fingerprinting
  • User accounts or login systems

If analytics, advertising, or similar tools are added in the future, this policy and the cookie notice will be updated and the effective date at the top will reflect the change.

How the data is used

The data that is collected is used only to:

  • Deliver pages to your browser when you request them
  • Remember your unit preference for a better user experience
  • Respond to emails you send me

The data currently collected is not used for advertising or profiling, sold to third parties, or shared except as required to operate the site (the hosting provider receives your request to deliver the page).

Cookies and local storage

TakeoffCalc uses browser local storage rather than traditional cookies for the unit preference and consent decision. Local storage is functionally similar but stays entirely on your device and is not transmitted with requests.

You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will reset your unit preference and cause the cookie consent banner to reappear.

Advertising and analytics

TakeoffCalc does not currently serve display ads or use analytics services. The site may support itself through unobtrusive ads in the future. If advertising is added, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites.

Google advertising cookies may be used to personalize or limit ads depending on your settings. You can opt out of personalized Google ads through Google Ads Settings. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.

Third parties that receive data

The following third parties are involved in operating the site and may receive technical request data:

  • Vercel (hosting and content delivery): receives your request data as part of serving pages. Vercel’s privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Cloudflare (DNS provider): resolves the domain name to the hosting server. Cloudflare receives DNS query metadata. Cloudflare’s privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
  • Namecheap Private Email (email hosting for contact@takeoffcalc.com): receives the contents of emails you send to me. Namecheap’s privacy policy is available at namecheap.com/legal/general/privacy-policy.

These are the third parties used today for infrastructure and email. Advertising or analytics providers will be listed here if they are added.
